National 5 Modern Studies is assessed in two parts.

An exam which lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes and is worth 80 marks.

An Assignment ‘write up’ which lasts for one hour and is worth 20 marks.

In 2021/22, there is no Assignment.

In the National 5 exam, candidates must answer questions from

Choice of either Scotland or the United Kingdom

Social Issues in the United Kingdom

Choice of either Social Inequality or Crime and the Law

International Issues

Choice of a World Power or a World Issue

Exam questions are a combination of
